Daisy Jonathan’s love for education especially care and education of children with various abilities was shaped by her parents and multi-faceted upbringing. Her foray into Special Education as well as various forms of therapy began after the birth of her second son who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Daisy is a Certified Special Educator , an Applied Behaviour Analyst, an Advanced Certified Autism Specialist (ACAS), a Certified sensory enrichment professional, a Board-Certified Cognitive Specialist (BCCS) and a Qualified Autism Services Provider with vast knowledge and experience in helping individuals with Autism and other developmental challenges.

Mrs Jonathan employs a variety of therapy approaches and methodologies to help children become more functional and independent.

A trained counsellor and certified trainer, she builds the capacity of parents, therapists, teachers and caregivers and equips them with skills, knowledge and referrals to address the varied needs of children while providing counselling and psycho-social support for parents and other caregivers.

Daisy believes in the creation of a supportive and enabling environment for children of all abilities to be able to reach their innate potential and to this end she regularly engages in advocacy and sensitization programs as well as engagement of stakeholders in the health and education sectors and via various media programs.

A training consultant, Daisy has trained teachers and therapists and supports schools and religious institutions to plan and implement inclusive and Special Education Needs (SEN) curricula and systems. She provides assessments, education and behaviour plans using tried, tested and proven methodologies and tools.

Daisy Jonathan has years of experiences working and consulting in the non-governmental and non-profit sector and consults as a trainer using Participatory learning Approaches (PLA) and Strategic Behaviour Change Communications approaches among young persons and Most At-Risk Populations (MARPs).

A counsellor and teacher, Daisy is married to a wonderfully supportive husband and is blessed with three children.

She is the convener and originator of Autism and Special Needs Support Africa (ASNSA) a platform for stakeholders in the autism and Special Needs sector and affected by autism to get information, skills and support as well as the Warrior Mums support Group– a social media support structure with membership of over six hundred mothers of Special Needs Children drawn from over fifteen countries.

She is the Proprietress, Pleasant Places Education Centre and Pleasant Places Therapy Centre in Portharcourt, Nigeria as well as Pleasant Places Nursery and Primary School, Lagos Nigeria.

She serves as founder and Executive Director of Pleasant Places Childcare Foundation, a non-governmental organization targeted at meeting the needs of children with social, educational and developmental needs especially among poor and vulnerable populations. 

She also functions as a minister and convener of Ability Bible School, a Faith based weekend club targeting children with special needs and their siblings.

Mrs Daisy holds a Special Education Needs Diploma (COE, London) Bachelor of Arts degree (Benin), Master of Business Administration specializing in Human Resource Management (Wales) as well as a Masters in Special Education from Walden University. She has received several certifications and trainings especially in the field of General Education, therapeutic care and support of children with learning disabilities, developmental challenges as well as physical disabilities and their families.

She is currently aspiring to be a doctoral student (PH.D.) in the field of education and believes strongly that experienced and certified professionals must arise to change the educational landscape in Nigeria and Africa.

Mummy D, as she is fondly called by many. is an ardent reader and researcher who has won series of awards in creative Writing and for her contributions in the field of Inclusive and Special Education
